Love the burnt ends! Hush puppies are great, pulled pork sandwiches - yum! Great menu and half priced nights! Love the live music too!!!

I'm a barbecue hound, I own a smoker and smoke hundreds of pounds of meat per year. BBQ Tip: You have to put wood in that smoker for your meats to actually have a smoked flavor. I had the barbecue sampler platter. All the meats were dried out - even the "smoked" sausage. The brisket was dry, had no taste, did not have a smoke ring or much smoke flavor at all, and had to be smothered in barbecue sauce in order to choke it down. The sausage was overcooked almost black on the outside (not from smoke), shriveled up, sorry excuse for sausage. The pulled pork was pre-mixed with Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce to hide hat they had let it sit out for so long that it was literally hard and crusty, and I'm not talking about the outside edges, I'm talking about the inside pieces that should be soft and moist. It had set out for so long even the Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce had started to dry up and caramelize. I had to request they bring me pulled pork that had not already been mixed with barbecue sauce, hoping that I would get something that was edible - no luck, it was dried out too. It seems that all of their barbecue sauces are either premade sauces (which is not necessarily a bad thing) or made out of other condiments with several ingredients mixed into them to make them taste like something they're not, just not done very well. As other reviewer's have said walking into the place, there is no hostess, no signage to tell you what to do, and you stand around looking like a doofus until one of the staff just maybe decides to walk up to you. Apparently what you're supposed to do is very uncomfortably find your own table and seat yourself, however, if there was a sign up front when people walked in this would be helpful. Other than coming to our table to take our drink order and our meal order, the waitress did not, one time, come back to our table to check on us, unless I waved her over to ask her for something. Very poor performance. If you want halfway decent barbecue in Bel Air, I would tell you to go to Dickey's barbecue in Abingdon, in the old Gabriel brothers shopping plaza, directly across from Wegman's and Wawa. They are not the best, but they ARE the best in Bel Air. Better yet, if you have the time and the inclination, Mission Barbecue in the Festival at Perry Hall is the best BBQ place in Maryland. You'll be glad you drove the extra miles.

You're supposed to put wood in the smoker. As a BBQ hound, I had to try this place after passing it a few times. I went over during lunch. Once i pulled up it sank in- this is probably the same owners as the JB's Smokehouse in Canton. $hit. I went to JB's in Canton a few years ago and got the brisket (that's advertised as having been smoked for 17 hours). quick aside- I have a smoker at home and use it often. I know about bbqin'. This ain't it. If you smoke a piece of meat for three or four hours it will develop a smoke ring- this is a pink ring on the immediate inside of the meat. If you see this, you've got smoky meat. Well, not only did the brisket in BOTH places not have a smoke ring, it didn't taste AT ALL like any wood smoke touched either piece of meat. To advertise that it's been smoked for 17 hours is completely ridiculous. Also, the sandwich cost $15. the service was fine, it's a nice place and all w/ lots of TVs and seemed clean. If you're looking for a bar/grill it seems like a fine place. If you're looking for BBQ? Keep looking.

I had been here before and wasn't impressed and had hoped that it had improved. It has not, it was worse. The service was very poor. Who only has 2 servers on a football Sunday? BUT, most of the tables seemed only to be drinking and eating from the free buffet. We had to flag our server down for drink refills and she never came around to see if our food was ok. The food was only mediocre. They seemed to be out of everything. Our server said that the food truck didn't come in. I tried to order chicken quesadillas, but since the food truck didn't come in, they weren't making them because they didn't have the chicken. This was very odd because I could order a salad with grilled chicken on it. I didn't realize that there was special quesadilla chicken. We tried the poutine. It was ok, but please don't call it poutine- just call it fries with cheese and gravy. The cheese was only bagged mozzerella, not cheese curds.

We came here for a football game last week. A nice atmosphere, not overly large but a decent size. Huge bar and free standing tables. The staff was really nice and it appeared to be clean. I was impressed with the beer list, though it wasn't totally up to date. Still quite a lot to choose from and they were very happy to let you have a sample of something before getting a whole glass. Be advised it's mostly craft beer, so be prepared to spend $6/glass. I had wings and a burger during the course of the game. Someone at the table ordered the biggest flipping pretzel I'd ever seen. The wings were OUTSTANDING. Nice smokey flavor beneath the sauce, crispy and filling. The burger was cooked as I asked with fresh cut fries. If this wasn't a solid half hour drive from my house I would make this our every week football spot.

Update: I think they have settled in a little bit and have more help, which improved my experience. I actually had the same server from my first visit and she did an exceptional job. The food really didn't change much but I noticed the beer selection was pretty good for a smaller place. I still am a little disappointed in the sauces, though. Recommended. I would say it deserves a 'four' now.

Had lunch here with the entire family. I had the JD burger. It was amazing. My wife had the pull pork sandwich and I qoute" it was off the chain" my mother had the meal in the jar...she loved it...my father had another type of burger he enjoyed. My daughter loved her chicken fingers. All in all great experience. I would definitely recommend !

The late 2014 remodeling nicely opened up the interior and was very well done. What used to be a small bar and small dining room is now an open bar/dining room. The design is consistent throughout and appropriate to what's on the menu. I had the brisket with beans. The beans were very good. The brisket was helped with the six different bottles of sauces on the table. The selection of tap beers was good although pricey ($6 for a glass of UFO White on Saturday evening). The menu lists several daily specials and happy hour specials and I'll definitely be back to take advantage of those. Another plus: the music was not turned up too loud, unlike so many other bar/restaurants with big screen TVs. The big screen TVs, btw, were all tuned to college football games. Some suggestions for further improvement: a wider selection of tequila (imho, a bbq place should have good tequila). I spotted some bottom shelf stuff only appropriate for mixing a cheap marguerita and also Patron.

We have stopped here a few times since they've opened. Very nice to finally have a place with a good selection of craft beers both in bottle and on draft! Every time we go we have sat at the bar and service has never been an issue. The male bartender we had the first time (a few days after they first opened) was outstanding. Friendly, quick and good. Since then the staff has been fine, not bad but not outstanding either. The menu is great, nice selection of bbq and non bbq options. THe appetizers have been great every time we have gone and we have tried a bunch of different ones. The only real issue we have had is consistency. One time the food is amazing, next time I get the same thing and its just ok. We even both got burgers one time and one was cooked significantly better than the other. COuld just be a new restaurant thing, but I'm really hoping this improves.

Afternoon weekend lunch. Server was very nice and handled almost the whole place by herself with cheer. Ordered. On New Year's Eve the barbecue restaurant was out of pulled pork. Ordered the house specialty. Brisket. Was days old. Asked how old and got no good answer. Good fries. No soup. Good BBQ sauces. In fact sauces were the highlight of the meal. I truly hope for improvement.

My girlfriend I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday in September. The food was awesome, just as our friends had told us! Unfortunately, our server/bartender (the guy wearing the red Flacco jersey) was loud, obnoxious, full of arrogant comments, and far more interested in watching the football game than tending to us. If he's still working there, we won't be back.

The wings are good and so is the burnt end quesidilla. Service is decent. I've also had the country fried steak, I was not a fan, sausage gravy is not the traditional flour/pepper gravy you get down south. Had the beef brisket and mashed potatoes with gravy as well. Brisket was good as we're the mashed potatoes, gravy was very thin and did not compliment the brisket in my opinion. Overall a decent place with a decent menu.

Came in for dinner tonight. First time here. There was no host, no signage and one has to uncomfortably find their way to a table. Servers do not wear name tags or aprons, making it difficult to know who is an employee. Server was friendly and brought drinks timely. We ordered wings and brisket sandwiches. Long wait. We were approached by someone "working the room" asking if we were drinking alcohol. When we said no, she asked if we wanted to be drinking alcohol. She never identified herself and made us feel oddly uncomfortable. Very strange. The food servers were very vocal with one another allowing patrons to hear their confusion about which table was assigned to whom. We were served someone else's food, and had to turn the meal away. No apology was made. Our food finally arrived. The brisket was extremely dry. We had to wait a few minutes and asked for bbq sauces to try. The sauces arrive ice cold. The sauces were so cold it made our brisket sandwiches cold. Very disappointing. The sweet potato fries were good as were the wings. Although we did not finish our meals, we were never asked how the meal was by the server. We will not plan to return any time soon.

I am a great cook on the grill and an above average smoker of meats. This place should not refer to itself as a smokehouse, you can definitely tell the food has not seen smoke for more than an hour. The brisket had no flavor, the sausage was burnt to as crisp, the pulled pork was ok but must have been made in a sore cooker. The staff was mediocre but friendly. The best part of my meal was the potato salad, people love my potato salad and I can honestly say this salad was better than mine. This is the first review I have ever written in Yelp and that says something. I am going to shoot my friend in the foot tomorrow for recommending this place to me.

Drove up from White Marsh and am darn glad we did! Everything was delicious, wonderful flavors and generous portion. Mac & Cheese wedges are insane! So light and fluffy! I got the Pork & Mac Jar-B-Q and LOVED the pork! I tried the various sauces and fell in list with the Peach & Vidalia Onion sauce! Sweet with a kick when you least expect it (hubby put it on his sweet potato fries and thoroughly enjoyed it too). Great ambiance, decent prices and worth the drive! We will be back!
